    • According to his WW I draft registration card (Sep 1918), Maurice Croushorn Crew, 19, was living in Aurora, IL, with his parents, and was born 31 Jan 1899.
    • The 1930 census shows Maurice C Crew, 31, living with his wife Jessie F, 30. He was employed as a school teacher. 1930 U.S. Census, Chicago, Cook Cnty, IL, ED 16-2742 (T 626, Roll 471, stamped p. 23B).
    • In 1940 the census records that Maurice Crew, 41, and his wife Jessie, 46, lived with two children: John, 9; and Sarah, 1. All were born in Illinois. Maurice ws a teacher in the city high school. 1940 U.S. Census, Oak Park Village, Cook Cnty, IL (T 627, Roll 784, ED 16-357-B, stamped p. 6466).
    • The Social Security Death Index provides that Maurice Crew (SSN 348-24-0746; issued in Illinois) was born 31 Jan 1899 and died in May, 1987, while living in Bloomington, Mclean Cnty, IL.
    • Obituary, The [Bloomington, IL] Pantagraph, p. C-13 (3 May 1987):
      "Maurice C. Crew, 88, ... Bloomington, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday (May 1, 1987) at Mennonite Hospital, Bloomington.
      "Mr. Crew donated his body to medical science. There will be no service or visitation. ***
      "He was born Jan. 31, 1899, in Aurora [IL], a son of Edwin and Myrtle Croushorn Crew. He married Jessie Moore July 14, 1928, in Mulberry Grove. She survives.
      "Also surviving are a son, John, ... Normal [IL]; a daughter, Sara Rhoten, Concord, Mass; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
      "Mr. Crew recieved a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois and a master's degree in chemistry from the University of Chicago. He taught science at Pontiac High School for three years and taught chemistry at Austin High School in Chicago for 25 years.
      "He then served as a field agent for the Illinois Education Association and later became branch manager for Horace Mann Insurance Cos. in the Chicago area.
      "After retiring from the insurance business, he returned to teaching, taking a position at Spalding High School in Chicago.
      "He was a member of the Society of Friends and the Oak Park Meeting. He was a lifelong member of the Illinois Education Association, and served as legislative chairman of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association. He was also a member of the Chicago 4-H Council and was a member of the College Alumni Club of Bloomington-Normal....."
