    • The 1870 census lists Thomas, 24, a farmer, and his parents, John Wilkinson, 63, mother Hannah, 58, and siblings, all of whom were born in Pennsylvania: "Elen," 26, Carpenter, 20, who had been a student during the year, and Clementine Blowers, 23. 1870 U.S. Census, Tipton P.O., Centre Twsp, Cedar Cnty, IA (M 593, Roll 380, written p. 24, stamped p. 148).

      The 1880 census shows "Zephalinda," 27, living with her husband Thomas Wilkinson, 34, a farmer, and their children: John W, 6; Oren, 5; "May," 3; Alban, 1; and an unnamed male baby who was 21 days old, born in May. (The census was taken on the 8th and 9th of June, 1880.) 1880 U.S. Census, Plevna Twsp, Reno Cnty, KS (T 9, Roll 394, stamp p. 495).

      The 1885 Iowa census lists Thomas Wilkinson, 33, a farmer, living with his wife "Zephalinda," 32, and 5 children: John W, 11; Oren C, 9, Frances M, 7; Allen W, 5; and Carpenter, 1. 1885 Iowa State Census, Fairfield, Cedar Cnty, IA (Roll 1885-160, stamped p. 218).
    • The 1900 census reflects that all of the children living with Thomas and "Zephalinda" in 1880 were gone from the family home. Living with them in 1900 were children: "Evan C," 13; Irma, 10; Ruby, 8; and Deborah, 6. 1900 U.S. Census, Hickory Grove Twsp, Warren Cnty, MO (T 623, Roll 907, stamped p. 77).

      In 1910 the family, down to 3 members, was living in Nebraska. The census lists Thomas, 64, "Zephalinda," 56, and their daughter Ruby, 18. Thomas' occupation had changed from farming to carpentry. 1910 U.S. Census, Arapahoe Prct, Furnas Cnty, NE (T 624, Roll 846, stamped p. 123).

    • Obituary, Yuma [CO] Pioneer (20 Dec 1928):
      "Thomas Wilkinson, a resident of the Waverly community for the past three years, passed away quietly at the home of his daughter, Mrs George E Waters last Thursday afternoon [13 Dec].
      "Thomas Wilkinson was born in Clinton County, Pennsylvania, April 10, 1846. When about 20 years of age he came west to Iowa with his parents where he spent the greater part of his life.
      "In 1872, he was married to Miss Zepha Russell. To this union 11 children were born, eight of whom are living, John W of Foristell, Missouri; Alban W of Stockton, California; Oren C of Helena, Montana; Evan C of Fort Morgan; Mrs Mae Cannon of Foristell, Missouri; Mrs Ruby Higgins of San Franscisco, California; Mrs Debbie Keith of Muscatine, Iowa; and Mrs Irma Waters of Yuma. Also two sisters, Mrs Ellen Newens of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Mrs John Helmer of Tipton, Iowa and 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren."
