      "Motorcyclist dies after hitting road sign at 100 mph
      "A 20 [sic; 30]-year-old Greensboro man died Wednesday morning after crashing his motorcycle into a road sign Tuesday night.
      "Richard Lee Snouffer II ... was driving a Honda motorcycle on Burlington Road about 10:25 p.m. when a Guilford County deputy spotted him going an estimated 100 mph, said Highway Patrol Trooper Chris Knox.
      "The deputy turned on the cruiser's lights and siren and chased the motorcycle as it turned north on Flemingfield Road. The motorcycle turned westbound on Huffine Mill Road and the deputy lost sight of it.
      "The deputy came upon the crash on Rankin Mill Road, north of Huffine Mill Road, Knox said.
      "An exact speed of the driver was not immediately available. The speed limit on the road is 45 mph. ***
      "Snouffer drove off the road, hit a road sign and a metal fence before being ejected from the motorcycle.
      "He was taken to Moses Cone Hospital for his injuries, where he died Wednesday morning, Knox said."

      "RICHARD LEE SNOUFFER, II (RICHIE) passed away on 11-12-14 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle wreck on 11-11-2014 on Rankin Mill Road, G'boro.
      "Richie attended Northeast High School and worked at Food Lion, as well as working with his dad in his paint business. Richie was an avid motor cross racer (Honda 4 stroke ATV, Number 23). He raced at Rolling Hills, Reidsville, NC for 5 years and won many championship trophies. He raced the Nationals Championship at Birchcreek, Danville, VA.
      "Richie loved his family and friends and had such a big heart. He never liked to see anyone cry. He is survived by parents Rick and Donna Snouffer, 5722 Green Apple Drive, G'boro, NC, [step] brother, David Gerringer, [step] sister, Tabitha Gerringer Carty, (Kelly), grandmother, Marie Dabbs and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by [step] brother, Mark Gerringer, grandfather, Robert (Gene Dabbs) and grandmother, Evelyn Booth.
      "The family would like to extend a special 'Thank You' to the medical staff at Moses Cone Hospital who diligently worked for 9 hours to try to save Richie's life, the chaplains, Greensboro Police Dept., NC Highway Patrol, Guilford Co. Sheriff's Office, First Responders on Hi-Cone Road.... A very special "Thank You" to Bill O'Neil, Channel 12 News, who visited Richie's home and talked to the parents and reported from the crash site by video.
