      "Mary Snouffer Larson, age 56, of Minnetonka. Died Aug 23, 2002, surrounded by her family. Mary was a mathematics teacher at various Mpls [sic] Public Schools since 1972.
      "Survived by loving husband of 30 yrs Arvid; sons, Jeffrey (Kelly) Hillsboro, OR, Eric, Mtka. [sic]; brothers, William (Kathi) Portland, OR, Richard (Lark) El Segundo, CA; sisters, Anne (Robert) Cochran, Houston, TX, Noel (Robert) Vertrees, Columbus, OH; stepmother, Nedra, Dallas, TX; many nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Col. William & Corrine Snouffer.
      "Memorial service Sat. [31 Aug] 11 am, All Saints Lutheran Church.... In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Mary S. Larson Education Scholarship fund or American Cancer Society...."

      "Mary Snouffer was born June 11, 1946 in Washington, D.C. She was the daughter of Col. William and Corinne (Campbell) Snouffer. Mary spent her childhood years in many different areas. Her family lived in Washington, D.C., Albuquerque, NM, Urbana, IL, Nagoya and Tokyo, Japan, Biloxi, MI, and Lexington, MA. Mary spent her teenage years in Lexington which would be come one of her favorite places to live and visit. [She graduated from Lexington High School in 1964.]
      "Mary attended Lawrence University in Appleton, WI and earned a B.A. in Mathematics with a minor in English in 1968. Mary then attended the University of Illinois and earned an M.S. degree in 1969. After graduating she taught math in Renton, WA for two years. She then applied for and received a teaching assignment with the Department of Defense schools in Germany. In Germany she met Arvid Larson, whom she wed in 1972 at the Martha Mary Chapel in South Sudbury, MA. Following the wedding, Arvid and Mary moved to Minnetonka, MN and Mary began her career teaching mathematics in the Minneapolis Public Schools. She retired in September of 2001.
      "Mary loved to play guitar and sing folk music, read novels, travel, and go to movies. She also enjoyed swimming, lying in the sun, and cuddling with her pet cats. She will be remembered as a loving person who was enjoyable to be around and [who] liked to visit with friends and family. Mary was a loving wife and mother to her sons, Jeff and Eric.
      "Mary passed away August 23, 2002, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband Arvid, sons Jeffrey (Kelly), [and] Eric; brothers, William (Kathi) [and] Richard (Lark)[Snouffer]; sisters, Anne (Robert) Cochran, Noel (Robert) Vertrees; stepmother, Nedra [Niles Snouffer]; and many nieces and nephews. [She was] preceded in death by parents Col. William and Corinne Snouffer."
