Mary Ann, 29, is also shown as born in Michigan. Their Ohio-born children: sons, William C[illegible], 8 yrs old, Michael L., 4, and Joseph M, 6 months; daughter "Claracy B" [Rosetta], 6. 1860 U.S. Census, Perry twsp, Franklin Cnty, OH (M 653, Roll 962, stamped p. 308).

The 1870 census was more accurate. It lists George as 49 years old, born in Maryland and working as a farm laborer. Mary is shown as 39, also born in Maryland, and "keeping house." Children, all Ohio-born, are: William, 18, a farm laborer; Rosetta, 16, attending school; Michael, 13, attending school; Joseph, 10, attending school; Franklin 3; and Charles, 4 months. 1870 U.S. Census, Perry twsp, Franklin Cnty, OH (M 593, Roll 1200, stamped p. 682).

The 1880 census lists George, 59, a laborer born in MD, living with his wife Mary, 47, also born in MD, and 4 children: Michael, a laborer, 22; Joseph, a laborer, 20; Charles, 12; and Howard, 5. 1880 U.S. Census, Perry twsp, Franklin Cnty, OH (T 9, Roll 1015, stamped p. 170)[LDS Film 1255015].

The 1900 census shows George as 79 yrs old, born in MD in 1820, married to his wife for 49 yrs, and working as a carpenter. "Mary A" is listed as 69 yrs old, born in MD in March 1831, married for 49 yrs. Children still living in the home are: Charles A, 30, born in Ohio in Feb. 1870, working as an "Engineer (Sta)" [perhaps at a railroad station?], and Howard C, 25, born in Ohio in July 1876, working as a laborer in a saw mill. 1900 U.S. Census, Perry twsp, Franklin Cnty, OH (T 623, Roll 1270, stamped p. 182).

The 1900 census was taken on 1 June 1900. George died shortly thereafter.
