    • The 1910 census lists "Harry J." Snouffer, 6, living at home with his parents and siblings. 1910 U.S. Census, Perry twsp, Franklin Cnty, OH; T624, Roll 1213, p. 141B.

      According to his mother's obituary, Jake was living in Chillicothe, OH, when she died in 1929. Barbara Erbele reports that, according to the 1936 city directory of Beckley, W.Va., Harry was listed as an assistant corporation engineer for the C & O Railway.

      The Marion [OH] Star, p. 30 (18 Oct 1951), reported on a meeting of the Vernon Junior High School PTA, and noted that the chairman for the 1951-52 school year was "H. H. Snouffer," who presided over the meeting, made committee assignments, and introduced the guest speakers.

      "Jake Snouffer -- Galion [OH] -- Services for Harry H. (Jake) Snouffer of 314 Lafayette St., Marion, former Galion High School athletic coach, are in charge of Boyd Funeral Home....
      "Mr. Snouffer died Wednesday [5 Jun] at 10:30 a.m. in Marion General Hospital. He suffered a stroke last Saturday [1 Jun] at his home.
      "He was a retired assistant trainmaster in Marion for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad. A graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University where he was a star half-back and All-Ohio football player, Snouffer coached in Galion in the school year of 1925-26.
      "Among his survivors are his wife, the former Cleo Cheap of Galion; two sons, Joe in Arkansas and Gary of Cincinnati and a grandson."

      "Harry "Jake" Snouffer, 70 of 400 Mt. Vernon Ave. died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Marion General Hospital. He had been in failing health since 1967.
      "Originally from Fostoria, he came here in 1950. After long service with the C&O Railroad Co., he retired as assistant trainmaster in 1968.
      "An outstanding football player at Ohio Wesleyan University where he graduated in 1925, he had coached athletics in Galion before accepting employment by the railroad.
      "In his football days, he was recipient of Bun's Trophy as most valuable player on a football team whose schedule had included competition with Ohio State and Michigan State universities. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon frater-
      "Surviving are his widow, Cleo Cheap Snouffer; 2 sons, Gary of Cincinnati and Joseph of Dallas, Tex.; a grandson, and 2 sisters, Mrs. Ralph Fox of Fostoria and Mrs. G.D. Groce of California.
      "Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday.... Burial will be in Marion Cemetery...."
