  • Notes
    • In 1870 the Lepps family was living in the area of the Dublin Post Office, Perry Twsp, Franklin Cnty, OH. James Lepps was a 44 year old farm laborer, born in Virginia, living with his wife Celia, 44, born in Ohio, and 8 children: Emily, 18; "Hariett," 16; Armina, 12; Sarah, 14; John, 10; "Arena" [Irene], 7; May [Mary], 5; and Isabella [Belle], 3. All the children were born in Ohio. The older girls -- Emily, Hariett, Armina and Sarah -- were all "attending school." Son John, only 10 years old, was doing "farm labor." The younger girls, "Arena," May and Isabella, had no assigned occupation. «i»1870 U.S. Census, «/i»Dublin PO, Perry Twsp, Franklin Cnty, OH (M 593, Roll 1200, stamped p. 675).

Ten years later the size of the family was reduced a bit. James, 55, was working as a laborer, living with his wife Celia, 42, and children: Sarah, 24; John, 21; Mary, 15; and "Elizabeth" [Isabella], 13. Emily, Hariett and Armina had moved on, perhaps were married. Irene was working as a "servant" in the household of George Richards, about 7 houses away. «i»1880 U.S. Census, «/i»Perry Twsp, Franklin Cnty, OH (T 9, Roll 1015, stamped p. 174D)
