  • Notes
    • Gervaise Dynes-Wolak reports that "Ferdinand," later "Fred," came to the United States from Bremen, Germany on the SS Strassburg, arriving in Baltimore, MD, 15 Apr 1883. He brought with him his first wife, Wilhelmine, and 2 daughters. Traveling on the same ship were his older brother Karl and family. See, also, I.Glazier & P.W.Filby, vol. 5, GERMANS TO AMERICA, p. 377 (1995), which reports that Ferdinand was a 24 year old laborer.
Ms. Dynes-Wolak states that his other brothers, Wilhelm and Herman, emigrated about 6 months later. She reports that Ferdinand had 3 wives, being twice widowed, before marrying Anna Blumenkranz, 2 Nov 1894.
