  • Notes
    • The 1880 Iowa census lists "Annie" living with her parents and 6 siblings "at home" in Cedar Rapids. 1880 U.S. Census, Cedar Rapids, Linn Cnty, IA (T 9, Roll 351, stamped p. 79).

According to a program published by the First English Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids, IA, when it was dedicated on Sunday, 10 Sep 1882, the officers of the church's Sunday School included "J. J. Snouffer, Secretary" and "Miss Annie Ausieker [sic], Asst. Secretary."

The 1900 census shows "Snauffer, Jas. J," 39, born in Dec 1860 in Maryland, employed as a "Gro. salesman," living with his wife of 17 years, Anna E, 39, b. May 1861 in Iowa, and their 5 Iowa born children: William D, 16, b. Apr 1884, and employed in "hardware sales"; Edward M, 14, b. May 1886; Arthur J, 12, b. Dec 1887; Bessie E, 8, b. The census reports that she had 5 children. It also records that she was born in Iowa, and it appears to state that her parents were German (the handwriting is hard to read). 1910 U.S. Census, 9th Prct, Cedar Rapids, Linn Cnty, IA (T 624, Roll 411, stamped p. 155).

Bertha Newens, her daughter-in-law, states her name was "Anna Eliza."
